Purchases are a big part of video games - whether it’s buying in-game currency or a limited-edition item. It’s quite easy to end up spending too much money on a game.
Despite this, it can sometimes be a good deal. So, you might be wondering, “Nonetheless, is it still worth spending my money on them?” Afterall, there really can be really great deals - for example, something reduced from £5 to £1. Yet, as stated, it’s easy to get carried away with purchases. It may feel like a good idea at the time, but over a longer period we, the gamers and consumers, can end up spending a lot of money.
According to a PEGI (Pan European Game Information) survey taken recently, reported on in The Guardian newspaper, the average amount spent on games by teenagers is £184 a year. Last year, American teenagers spent a record $36 billion on them. Video games can be fun, but we should probably be on our guard about the growth in this area of the market. When there are already so many obvious costs in the gaming industry, should we be accepting sneakier ways of taking our money from us?
