The Apprentice 2018: Another Crazy Year

T The Apprentice 2018: Another Crazy Year

he last quarter of 2018 hosted Series 14 of ‘The Apprentice’ with 16 new candidates entering the pro- cess once again to become Lord Sugar’s next business partner. But, in my opinion, many of them needed to get their business brains screwed on properly, some candidates really needing to actually contribute something to their teams (definitely not looking at you, Kurran)!

Candidates engaged in a whole series of crazy and zany tasks: from running around Malta like headless chickens; a pastry escapade of donut disasters; and, of course, attempting to sell, with great difficulty, live on television. While some candidates deserved to have had that 71-year old index finger pointed at them in disgrace, much loved candidates such as Kayode were greatly missed when they were finally ousted from the show, tail very much between legs. Sarah Ann was the final candidate to be fired before the interview stage, as she failed to tangle Christmas taste buds, perhaps because of her teammates coming up with some misogynistic marketing.

But finally we had the final 5: Khadija, Camilla, Sabrina, Sian and, the last man standing, Daniel. As with all these interviews, the four interviewers (Mike Soutar, Claudine Collins, Linda Plant, and Lord Sugar’s aide, Claude Littner) were as tough as nails. Every aspect of every business plan, as usual, was torn apart by these bigwigs of the business world. This included Claude not even attempting to shake Daniel’s hand. Meanwhile, Khadija was giving Linda a taste of her own angry medicine, really cranking the volume levels up in the midst of their competition. Tears were shed, but eventually it was decided that Camilla and Sian were to progress through to the final.

Thus, on Sunday 16th December, it was to be Lancashire versus Yorkshire, the War of the Roses all over again, the mighty women of the North come to do battle. Some much-loved faces came back (well, perhaps exclud- ing Kurran) to help the final two on their mission to global success. Eventually, Sian’s hard work paid off and she went home in the back of Lord Sugar’s car, with £250,000 in her pocket.

The right decision? Well, who cares! All I know is that I can’t wait to see it all all over again when it comes back with a bite, doubtless with yet more crazy tasks (and more crazy contestants), next year.
